Our Approach to Botanical Surveys
Detailed Fieldwork
- Extensive Site Surveys: Our team conducts in-depth field visits to various habitats, identifying and recording a wide range of plant species. These include legally protected, rare and non-native invasive plant species surveys.
Expert Identification and Assessment
- Species Identification: Leveraging our extensive in-house botanical expertise, we accurately identify plant species, including rare and threatened taxa. We have expertise in the identification and surveying of species on the Flora (Protection) Order, 2022.
- Quadrat/Relevé Recording: we often record detailed quadrat/relevé plots within different vegetation types. This is particularly relevant to rare plant species, where vegetation data facilitates a better understanding of the habitat requirements of those rare species and allows for ongoing management of areas where they occur. We also do this for rare/protected habitat types.
- Ecological Assessment: We assess the ecological significance of plant species and communities on a local, national and international scale.
Species Mapping and Reporting
- GIS Mapping: All findings from our surveys are meticulously compiled and mapped for our clients, especially for rare or non-native invasive plant species.
- Detailed Reporting: We provide comprehensive reports outlining the results of the surveys, along with recommendations for conservation and management, where applicable.
