Ecological Services
Habitat Assessments
- Habitat Surveys: Detailed field studies for informed conservation and impact assessments.
- Habitat Mapping: High-resolution mapping services to catalogue diverse habitats.
- Habitat Classification: Categorising habitats to aid in targeted conservation efforts.
- Annex I Habitat Surveys: identifying protected EU Habitats Directive Annex I habitats and assessing their conservation condition.
- Habitat Restoration: Reclaiming and revitalising natural landscapes for flora and fauna.
- Habitat Management and Habitat Monitoring: Long-term management strategies for existing habitats, including the development and implementation of monitoring programmes.

Vegetation Research
A service providing ecological research and analyses on a wide variety of vegetation types in Ireland.
Ecological Training
- Botanical Identification Training: expert-led training in botanical identification, particularly related to the Irish flora. This includes training on the identification of plant species on the Flora (Protection) Order, 2022.
- Habitat Identification and Surveying Training: expert-led training in habitat identification and surveying techniques/practices, particularly related to Irish habitats. These include EU Habitats Directive Annex I habitat training.
Preliminary Ecological Appraisal
An initial ecological assessment of a plan or project which helps to identify potential ecological constraints and opportunities early in the development of a plan or project.
Ecological and Environmental Impact Assessments
- Ecological Impact Assessment: In-depth studies to measure and mitigate the ecological effects of development and land use changes.
- Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) Biodiversity Chapters: detailed assessments of impacts of larger-scale projects on biodiversity, with the inclusion of mitigation measures to avoid and reduce any impacts.
Appropriate Assessment
- Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening: Specialised assessments to ensure that plans and projects have no adverse impacts on European Union (EU) protected sites.
- Natura Impact Statement (NIS): a detailed assessment report which may be required for some projects which have the potential to have significant effects on any European sites.
Ecological Surveying
- Botanical Surveys: Comprehensive flora studies for conservation and research.
- Bat Surveys: Cataloguing the presence of protected bat species in a given area and ensuring that the protection of these species is taken into account.
- Bird Surveys: Detailed ornithological studies to inform conservation efforts.
- Multi-disciplinary Ecology Surveys: Measuring the richness and condition of local habitats, flora and fauna.
Ecological Clerk of Works (EcoW)
On-site ecological supervision of active development sites, ensuring adherence to all regulations and planning conditions related to ecological protection.
Countryside Surveys – Northern Ireland
